Mediation

Mediation is an effective way of resolving disputes without the stress and expense of going to court. It is also a fast method of settling the matter as a satisfactory outcome can usually be reached within a day.

Mediation is not about who is to blame it is simply about providing an environment where each party can have their say and be listened to and ultimately reach a settlement that is acceptable to each party.

Mediation is a flexible process that involves a neutral third party, a mediator, who helps both sides settle their dispute.

At Ashley Taylors Legal we commonly undertake mediation in the following disputes:

  • Landlord and Tenant disputes
  • Contract disputes
  • Boundary disputes
  • Low value Road Traffic Accident cases (typically under £10K)

We can undertake mediation in any major city in the country or facilitate the session at our mediation suite.

The cost of mediation is shared between both parties and depends upon the value and complexity of the claim.

If you want more information about this service please see below or to book one of our mediators please contact us.

How We Work

Our mediators are all listed in the National Mediator Database.

We arrange a venue for the mediation to take place and have a mediation suite at our offices in East Sussex, the use of which is included in the fee.

We offer a fixed fee 1 day mediation session which includes preparation time and travel. If you believe you may require more time please contact us to discuss the fee.

Before the session the Mediator requires an outline of the case from both parties so they have some background to the dispute and can prepare for the session.

All our sessions are carried out in person and the structure of the session depends on your needs whether that is an “around the table” discussion or in separate rooms with the Mediator “shuttling” between the rooms.

After the session, when hopefully the matter has been settled, all the documentation, relating to the session, is securely destroyed.

It will be the responsibility of the parties’ legal representatives to draft any Settlement Agreement.

Our Mediators

The Mediators at Ashley Taylors Legal are all members of the Civil Mediation Council, and for the most part have strong legal and Court backgrounds.

They also have a wide range of experience in various fields outside the legal world and we believe we have the right mediator to assist you.
