Frequently Asked Questions
- Who will gain from completing the Courses?
Paralegals, Legal Secretaries, support staff and members of the IoP receive a recognised legal qualification accredited by the IoP.
- Do I have to be currently working in a legal environment?
No. Ideally, candidates will have a working knowledge of the subject. However, the provision of the forum and our online tutor will assist those of you to whom this does not apply enabling you to complete the modules without much difficulty.
- Do I have to complete the modules in any order?
If you are completing the Mortgage Repossession modules, (there are five in total) they must be completed in order, as they all interlink and cross reference with each other. The modules for our other courses can be completed in any order.
- What Qualification will I gain from completing either of these Courses?
The Training Packs are generally aimed at those wanting to gain their Fellowship with the Institute of Paralegals for which our Courses are Mandatory. Completion of the Courses gives an LPQ in that subject. You can however simply use the modules to help enhance your own working knowledge. For the purposes of a Fellowship, all assessments must be passed within one year of receiving the Training Pack or first module.
- I work full time already, how can I fit the modules in with my day job?
We understand that most of the Candidates taking either Course maybe working full time, which is why we are allowing you 6-8 weeks to complete each module. This is generally very manageable.
- What if I am late returning a relevant module after the 6-8 weeks?
The timings given for the completion of individual assessments are advisory but you must keep the final course completion date in mind if you want the LPQ for your fellowship. The whole Course must be completed and passed within one year to count towards your Fellowship. The main criteria is to have all the assessments in a course completed within this time.
- Who do I call if I need help or if I need to find further materials?
If you need help or have a query, you may email the online tutor at atltenquiries@ashleytaylors.co.uk. The online tutors are all experienced Advocates and Lawyers and they work normal office hours dealing with queries in sequence. Email them your query stating your candidate number and course. They will respond quickly for you. You may also find the answers you need on the forum
- How do I pay for a Course or a module?
You can purchase a whole Course or each separate module as it suits on line at our website www.ashleytaylors.co.uk via PayPal using a Debit or Credit card.
- Once I have paid for a Course or a module, do I have to complete an enrolment form?
Yes you do. There is no enrolment fee. Once you have ordered a course or module, you will be sent an enrolment form. We need this for verification and to allow you access to the online help we provide. Your Training Pack is sent via 1st class recorded delivery to you once we have received your signed and completed enrolment form. It is only necessary to enrol once with us.
- Do the Courses commence at certain times of the year?
No, courses start from the time you enrol.
- What if I fail an assessment? Are there any charges to retake the assessment?
We are not naïve to think that everyone will pass an assessment first time, although most do. However, if you fail an assessment, there will be a small admin fee of £25.00 for a retake.
- Am I going to get any feed back upon completing an assessment?
We always give feedback on assessments, whether it is a pass or a fail. We are always constructive and honest and endeavour to have any result and feedback to you within 7 days.
